The Centre for Sports Science and Medicine (CESAME) is delighted to host a public lecture on September 5, 2026, titled "Smart Sport, Smart Life: Innovation, Wellness and Integrity" (智慧運動.智慧生活 - 創新引領全民健康和公平競技). In the lecture "Born to Move - Why Exercise Is the Best Medicine," Prof. Pitsiladis will explore the critical mismatch between our evolutionary need for movement and today's sedentary world—a key driver of rising chronic diseases. Drawing on decades of research in Olympic sport, genomics, and wearable technology, he will demonstrate how cutting-edge insights developed for elite athletes can be translated to improve public health for everyone. This lecture blends evolutionary science with practical lessons, highlighting movement as a powerful tool for preventing disease, enhancing wellbeing, and extending a healthy life, ultimately showing how we can use science to reshape our environment to better align with our biological design.
